Psychiatrist Richard Cross (Vincent Price) is treating a woman, Janet (Anabel Shaw), who is in a coma-state, brought on when she witnessed a murder. As she comes out of shock, she recognizes Cross as the killer. He takes her to his private sanitarium where his nurse and lover, Elaine (Lynn Bari) tries to persuade him to get rid of Janet. But he can't do it and ends up killing Elaine instead.

Vincent is cool and calculating in this B-movie thriller as the murderous mad doctor and it is this starring vehicle, and Dragonwyck, which first shows just how brilliant he is playing the villain. A taste of things to come..
