House of Long Shadows (1983)
An American author enters a bet with his UK publisher to write a novel in 24 hours. He is given the loan of Baldpate Manor, an isolated house deep in the Welsh countryside, uninhabited since the war.
But from the moment he arrives, mysterious people materialise. But who are the sinister Grisbane family and why have they returned after 40 years.
I don't care what anybody says, but this is a much overlooked gem. OK, when it came out it had to compete against the blood and gore of a host of splatter films, but it was great to have Vincent hamming it up with Lee, Cushing and Carradine. Its creeky and dated, but truly one to watch over and over.
