Confessions of an Opium Eater (1962)

Freely based upon the book by Thomas De Quincey, Confessions of an Opium Eater is set in San Francisco during the Tong Wars of the 1800s. Lotus is one of a group of women kidnapped from China and brought to the United States, where they are to be traded in exchange for opium. Price plays the enigmatic De Quincey who sets out to locate Lotus, and finds himself on a quest to find the mastermind behind the human auctions. But who is he really working for?

This fabulously lurid tale of slavery and drug-induced monologues would have to have been a real low point in Vincent's film career. Its pure rubbish, but still a favourite of mine. If only it could have lived up to its title(s) - Souls for Sale, Secrets of a Soul and Evils of Chinatown.

Dare you enter the nightmare zone of the incredible?
