Nefertiti, regina del Nilo (1961)

In this Italian sword and sandals epic, Jeanne Crain plays a Theben maiden who discovers she is actually destined to marry a mentally ill prince so her high priest father (Vincent Price) can control the country from behind the scenes. But when the prince kills himself and she become Queen Nefertiti, she rallies the army and wins back power.

As Benakon, the high Priest of Egypt, Vincent is wickedly delicious although his costumes and make-up belong in La Cage Aux Folles. The twists and turns of this Italian tunic and sandals epic are great. Jeanne Crain is lovely. But Edmund Purdom is no Steve Reeves.

Stay tuned. A sound clip will appear here soon.
