Monster Club

Monster Club (1980)

A famed horror writer is invited by a mysterious old gentleman (our Vincent, playing a vampire for only the second time in his career - do you know what the first was?) to a club populated by monsters. There, three gruesome stories are told to him. But in the end, it's recognized he is the greatest monster of all.

In the hands of a younger director with a vision for the fantastique, The Monster Club would have been to die-for. Instead it is a wet blanket, and apart from the first story which features a superbly gory ending, there is only the pleasure of seeing Vincent and John Carradine trying to be hip in a club playing UB40 to savour. Scroll down to the bottom of this page for the beginning of the movie.

Take a look at my own version of The Monster Mash, mixed into The Monster Club disco dancing scene at the end of the movie. Enjoy!
