Green Hell (1940)

Archeologist Keith Brandon (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) leads a team of researchers, David Richardson (Vincent Price), Dr Emil Loren (Alan Hale), Forrester (George Sanders), and Hal Scott (John Howard), on a search for Inca artifacts in the jungles of South America. But the scientists discover they are not welcome when Richardson dies from a poisoned dart. The situation is made even more complicated when Stephanie (Joan Bennett), Richardson's wife, appears unannounced. With her husband dead, Stephanie is forced to join Brandon's party out of the wilderness, with armed natives surrounding them on all sides. And, in the midst of the danger, both Brandon and Forrester discover they're falling in love with Stephanie leading to dangerous rivalry among the men.

Vincent Price has only a handful of scenes before his untimely death early on in this picture - the last by the once great director James Whale. Mauled by the critics and a flop with filmgoers on its release in 1940, the film really isn't that bad for a lazy Sunday afternoon..
