The Trouble With Girls (1969)

A charming though ineptly titled comedy set in the 1920s, with one fortunate murder, several pleasant songs, Elvis, and a huge cast who seem far too willing to act their fool heads offs.
Personally, as a youth I was shocked by this film (a) because Elvis was in a serious movie for the first and only time and (b) because I was seeing Vincent in a role that meant he would do anything to keep in him work...
In retrospective, however, and seeing this film again... I see big comparisons with the Cohen Brothers O Brother Thou Art! Does this mean that director Peter Tewksbury was years before his time, or have audiences become more sophisticated in their viewing habits?
